Butterflies Are Free is a Tony Award nominated comedy that ran for 1128 performances on Broadway. This playful tale focuses on a young blind guitarist who moves into an apartment in the city to escape his controlling mother and makes the acquaintance of an off-the-wall, liberated actress. As their relationship grows the talented young songwriter learns how to convey emotion, while the actress learns that seeing isn’t everything. This uncommon love story, written by Leonard Gershe and adapted for film in 1972, earned Eileen Heckart an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, Edward Albert a Golden Globe, and Goldie Hawn an early nod in her career.

I loved the theater in the round and the small theater atmosphere. Both plays were extremely well put together and the cast did a wonderful job. Wheelchair accessible seats are available through the Ticket Office. The Theatre is not equipped with elevators or escalators. Assisted listening devices or earplugs can be picked up at the complimentary coat check located inside the main doors. Ask an usher to obtain a booster cushion for small children. All services are subject to availability.

Refunds/Exchanges:

All sales are final. Please check your order thoroughly before making your purchase. MBT Members can exchange the value of their tickets for another MBT-presented show of equal value. Tickets must be returned to the Ticket Office before the show for an exchange.

Tickets can be donated back to the Theatre at least 24 hours before the show as a tax deductable contribution.
