Overview
On Golden Pond, by Ernest Thompson, is part of MBT's Summer Repertory Theatre
Elderly couple Ethel and Norman are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. Norman is a retired professor with heart palpitations and a failing memory who remains as tart-tongued, observant, and eager for life as ever. Ethel, ten years younger and a perfect opposite, delights in all the small things that continue to enrich their long life together. During their summer stay, the two receive a visit from their divorced, middle-aged daughter – somewhat estranged from her curmudgeonly father – who brings along her fiancé and his teenage son. This poignant story of a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage was made famous by the multiple Oscar-winning 1981 film adaptation starring Katharine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, and Jane Fonda.
Directed by Mark Kuntz, stage managed by Rebecca Anderson. Starring Heather Dudenbostel, Colin Glaze, Terry Sacks, Justin Shepard, Robert Simmons, Sean Walbeck and Henry Winslow.
Summer Repertory Theatre
Mount Baker Theatre is excited to present its sixth year of the Summer Repertory Theatre series. Directed by MBT Producing Director Mark Kuntz, three plays (Proof, On Golden Pond, and Chapter Two) are presented in theatre-in-the-round on a rotating schedule by professional and community actors. These sometimes-playful, sometimes-dramatic shows make for a perfect summer evening night out.
