Nightingale: A Musical Regarding the Life & Passion of Miss Florence Nightingale by Pamela Gerke - CelebratIng Florence Nightingale’s 200th Birthday and the World Health Organization’s “Year of the Nurse and Midwife” in 2020.
The show is an inspirational musical dramatization of the life and passion of one of the principal founders of the nursing profession and a powerful role model for today’s nurses. Nightingale spoke truth to power, caught the old guard in the act of being obsolete, and thereby changed the world. This musical reveals issues that continue to challenge modern nurses, such as hierarchy, sexism, and bureaucratic obstacles.
Nightingale is produced by HEARTS: Health & Arts, a non-profit dedicated to creating a “culture of health” through the arts. HEARTS works with nursing organizations and schools to sponsor the Tour, including Washington State Nurses Association, SEIU Healthcare 1199NW, Nursing Associations in King and Pierce Counties, Nursing Schools at University of Washington, Tacoma Community College, Bellingham Technical College, and many more.
