The Ruth Moody Band plays a double header in the Walton Theatre stage on October 7th!

Ruth Moody is a Juno Award-winning songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba. A founding member of the internationally renowned, Billboard-charting trio The Wailin' Jennys and former lead singer of the Canadian roots band Scruj MacDuhk (the band that would later become The Duhks), Moody has performed in sold-out venues around the world. She has made numerous critically-acclaimed albums, and has appeared more than a dozen times on the national radio show A Prairie Home Companion.

Critics have lauded Moody's ethereal vocals, impressive multi-instrumentalism (guitar, banjo, accordion, piano, and bodhrán), and her talent as a songwriter. Writing with a maturity and wisdom that is beyond her years, Moody’s songs are timeless, universal, and exceptionally well-crafted, all sung with an intimacy and honesty that is unmistakably hers.

Moody was a finalist in the USA Songwriting Competition and was recognized by the International Songwriting Competition for her song “One Voice,” which has gone on to be a signature song for The Wailin’ Jennys. It has been covered by countless artists and has been performed in concert halls, churches and schools throughout the world.

Moody released her highly anticipated solo album The Garden on Red House Records in the spring of 2010. Although she released a solo EP in 2002 called Blue Muse, this was Moody’s first full-length recording. The album was produced by Juno nominee David Travers-Smith and featured an all-star cast including neo-bluegrass band Crooked Still, Kevin Breit (Norah Jones, k.d. lang), Luke Doucet, and a guest appearance by The Wailin' Jennys. Travers-Smith produced her second Red House CD, released in spring of 2013, These Wilder Things, which was a more personal and intense record. Special guests included Mark Knopfler and Jerry Douglas.

The Ruth Moody Band also features Adam Dobres (electric guitar), Adrian Dolan (strings, mandolin, accordion) and Sam Howard (bass, vocals).
