Mariachi Herencia de México
Our Latin Thing (Nuestra Cosa)
Two-Time Latin Grammy Nominees Mariachi Herencia de México Bring the Heat to Bellingham
The historic tradition of mariachi music, originating in cities like Guadalajara and Mexico City, has seen its influence spread far and wide. It even reached the vibrant city of Chicago, where it gave birth to the remarkable Mariachi Herencia de México. This two-time Latin Grammy-nominated band with five chart-topping albums and performances across North America has paved the way for a new generation of mariachi musicians.
The young, virtuosic band comprises 14 musicians, ages 18-32, representing a new bicultural generation in the United States. Nuestra Herencia, Mariachi Herencia de México’s 2017 debut album, topped the Latin streaming charts and earned the group their first Latin Grammy-nomination for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album. The band’s 2018 album, Herencia de la Tierra Mía, as well as their 2019 and 2020 albums, Esencia and Esencia Vol. 2 all reached the top of the major streaming platforms and industry charts. In 2022, Herederos debuted as the band performed a wildly successful North American tour. Herederos received a 2023 Latin Grammy nomination for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album.
In an explosion of colors and sounds, Our Latin Thing (Nuestra Cosa) is the band’s sixth studio release, which combines the band’s mariachi virtuosity with Spanish Harlem’s vibrant percussion line. The album pays tribute to Latin music legends such as Celia Cruz, Héctor Lavoe, and the three-guitar trio Los Panchos. Honoring the past, celebrating the present, and creating the future of mariachi music, Mariachi Herencia de México presents an electrifying and unforgettable night of Mexican music and culture.
