Donations are tax-deductible; however, some donor levels include benefits with a fair market value, which may reduce the deductible portion of your gift. If you prefer full tax deductibility, you may decline benefits at the time your gift is made. For guidance specific to your situation, please consult your tax advisor. Due to IRS regulations, donations made through a donor-advised fund, qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) via an IRA, or via corporate matching are not eligible for benefits with a fair market value.

Ticket Exchange Privileges

As a valued Member, you have the exclusive ability to return tickets in exchange for account credit. Please note the following guidelines:
~ Ticket exchanges must be completed at least one business day prior to the scheduled performance.
~ For weekend performances, requests must be made by 2:00 PM on the Friday before the show. (Exchange requests submitted after this cutoff cannot be honored.)

Donor FAQs

What’s the difference between becoming an MBT Member versus a donor?

For $75, anyone can become an MBT Member. Your membership grants you 12 months of early access to ticket sales, waived Historic Venue Operations (HVO) fees, and ticket exchange privileges. Our Members make up a core foundation of support for the organization.

Donors are those who want to deepen their support of MBT and the performing arts in our region by making contributions above and beyond purchasing a membership. 

To keep prices affordable, Mount Baker Theatre only collects a small portion of ticket sales — not enough to cover the cost of bringing the shows you love to Bellingham. Donations from generous community members like you are needed to fill the gap and make our amazing seasons possible.

Donor benefits are our way of expressing gratitude to our generous donors and bringing you closer to the art you love.

What happened to the Membership program?

All of your benefits and more are still available through our Donor Program. If you’re interested in basic membership benefits, reach out to Tickets@MountBakerTheatre.com to purchase your membership today. If you’re interested in becoming a donor with further benefits, reach out to Development@MountBakerTheatre.com.

If I'm already an MBT donor, do I automatically receive Centennial Campaign benefits?

Centennial Campaign benefits are tied specifically to gifts made to the Campaign. If you’re already a donor you’ll continue to enjoy your donor benefits, but to receive campaign benefits, you would need to make a separate gift at the level you choose. Learn more about the Centennial Campaign here.

How do I make a Centennial Capital Campaign gift?

How do I update my credit card on file for a monthly donation?

Log in to your MBT account to update your credit card on file for your monthly sustaining donation. If you have questions, please contact Development@MountBakerTheatre.com or 360-778-4020. For security reasons, please do not email us your credit card number.

What is the Tax EIN for Mount Baker Theatre?

Mount Baker Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit – our Tax ID/EIN is 91-1208766.

How do I get my company to match my gift?

Many employers offer matching gift programs that can double — or even triple — the impact of your donation. To get started, check with your company’s HR department for details on their specific matching process.

Can I make a donation with stock?

Can I make a contribution through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)?

Yes, Mount Baker Theatre gratefully accepts contributions made through Donor Advised Funds. Please be aware that certain donor benefits may not be eligible when giving through a DAF, due to IRS regulations. Is my gift tax-deductible?
